Canali and NY Magazine present an evening with Mariano Rivera April 14, 2010

On Tuesday 13 April, 2010, high-end suit store Cavali in conjunction with high brow NY Magazine, had an intimate gathering for Wall St movers n’ shakers in their Broad St (right next door to the NY Stock Exchange) store with All-American-Hall of Fame- 2009 pennant winning NY Yankee-Mariano Rivera.

Miniature baseball food staples, such as: peanuts and cracker jacks, hot dogs, warm pretzels and cheese and ham toasties were in constant supply as Mariano mingled with the business attired crowd and stood for non-stop photographs.

He was here to raise awareness for the Mariano Rivera Foundation and donated signed 2009 guernseys and baseball gloves for a silent auction to benefit his fund.

I especially liked the speciality cocktail they had passed around for the evening, fittingly called “The Closer” which was a nice mix of Stoli, Orange Juice and 7Up.

Being a huge Red Sox fan, it was still an honour to meet my first real baseball great – the only US sporting code I have always been a follower of.

I also loved the take home goody bag, which included the new issue of NY Mag and a leather Canali business card holder – impressive!
